Jay Rock Puts On For The West Coast With ‘Redemption’ Album [STREAM]

It’s been said that Jay Rock was an integral part of TDE and paved the way for artists on the roster like Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, and Ab-Soul. The ‘90059’ rapper returns with his new album, ‘Redemption’, the first since 2015.

Although this is Rock’s third overall album, it is the first major label release, as it is released through Top Dawg Entertainment and Interscope Records.

Loaded with 13-tracks, the album includes contributions from TDE artists Kendrick Lamar on “Wow Freestyle” and SZA on the title track “Redemption.” Elsewhere, Future appears on “King’s Dead,” J. Cole on “OSOM,” and Jeremih on “Tap Out.”

Production was mostly handled by Mike WiLL Made-It, Sounwave, Boi-1da, Hit-Boy, Cardo, Terrace Martin, Vinylz, and more.

Jay Rock is currently on “The Championship Tour” with his TDE labelmates. It will wrap up tomorrow in Pittsburgh.

Next week Jay Rock will unleash his major label debut album, ‘Redemption’. To warm it up, the Watts rapper comes through with another West Coast banger called “The Bloodiest,” produced by Boi-1da, Allen Ritter, and Jake One. On it Rock looks back at his trials and tribulations.

Along with the track, Jay Rock shares the track listing for his upcoming album, which includes features from Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, SZA, and more.

New Video: Jay Rock – “Win” [WATCH]

On a day that Kendrick Lamar was awarded a Pulitzer Prize for his critically-acclaimed ‘DAMN.’ album, Jay Rock and TDE celebrate with the triumphant visuals for his ‘Redemption’ album single “Win.”

Directed by the usual suspects of Dave Meyers and Dave Free of The Little Homies, this video as every recent TDE video does not disappoint. The clip begins with Jay Rock and Kendrick Lamar dressed in suits while a band of trumpeters and flames surround them. The majority of TDE makes cameos in the video, hot off the completion of their “The Championship Tour.”

Jay Rock Announces New Album ‘Redemption’ + Release Date [PEEP]

Even on TDE’s “The Championship Tour,” Jay Rock is in album mode and has announced his first major label album ‘Redemption’. The long-awaited LP will be his third overall and follow 2015’s ‘90059’. It is slated to be released on June 15th.

Along with the announcement, Jay Rock unveiled  the dark album artwork, which shows him on a street at dawn, looking up at the sky. The photo was shot by TDE president Dave Free, who handles a lot of the label’s art direction.

Recently the Watts rapper released the first single off the album titled “Win.” He has been spotted working in the studio with ScHoolboy Q, Tee Grizzley, and YG recently. It is expected that the TDE roster will be featured on the album.

Rock will continue on “The Championship Tour” along with Kendrick Lamar, SZA, ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, and other TDE members. The tour runs through June 16th, a day after his album drops.

New Music: Jay Rock – “Win” [LISTEN]

It appears that Jay Rock is beginning the rollout for his forthcoming third album as he drops his new “Championship” single “Win,” which is co-produced by Boi-1da, Vinylz and CT.

While Rock has teased music in the past couple months, TDE CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith revealed that the Watts rapper’s next album will be called ‘Redemption’ and is lined up to be released on Interscope Records. His past albums have all been released independently through TDE.

New Music: Mozzy – “Nobody Knows” Feat. Jay Rock & DCMBR [LISTEN]

Mozzy has been on an absolute wave to start the year and all signs are pointing to him having a massive year. After receiving a shout out at the GRAMMYs from Kendrick Lamar, Mozzy appeared on TDE’s ‘Black Panther: The Album’. With a project on the way the Sacramento rapper unveils his new single “Nobody Knows” featuring Jay Rock and DCMBR.

“Nobody Knows” is the first single off Mozzy’s forthcoming ‘Spiritual Conversations’ EP expected to be released March 2nd. He is also working on his next album ‘Gangland Landlord’, which remains without a due date, but might be coming out later this year.

New Video – Jay Rock, Kendrick Lamar & Future – “King’s Dead” [WATCH]

“Miss me with that bullsh*t.”

Jay Rock, Kendrick Lamar, and Future all congregate in Los Angeles for the highly-awaited “King’s Dead” video off the ‘Black Panther: The Album’.

Co-directed by Jack Begert and the little homies (made up of TDE President Dave Free & Kendrick Lamar), the thrilling visuals includes galvanizing scenes in juxtaposition where the street life meets the corporate world, drawing inspiration from “Wolf of Wall Street.”

The video shows different parts of Los Angeles, starting with with Kompton Kenny chilling on a palm tree eating an elote (grilled corn) and doing his verse. Jay Rock is then shown getting a haircut at La Pico Plaza’s M Barbering. Future makes an appearance at the LAndmark Bradbury Building in DownTown LA.

TDE Unleashes Star-Studded ‘Black Panther: The Album’ [STREAM]

With Marvel’s highly-anticipated “Black Panther” movie hitting the big screen nationwide next week, Top Dawg Entertainment releases the star-studded ‘Black Panther: The Album’, which draws inspiration from the movie and was curated by the label.

Aligning all the all-stars, the 14-track soundtrack includes some of hip-hop and R&B’s biggest acts like Kendrick Lamar on five tracks, TDE’s first lady SZA, TDE members ScHoolboy Q, Jay Rock, and Ab-Soul. Other artists that make appearances are The Weeknd, Future, Travis Scott, 2 Chainz, Swae Lee, Khalid, Vince Staples, Anderson .Paak, Mozzy, Jorja Smith, Zacari, amongst others.

The film’s director Ryan Coogler praised Kendrick and his music saying he had been trying to track him down for years and “Eventually I caught up with him a couple years ago,” and from there they brought the Compton rapper in to watch part of the film. After soaking in some of the movie Kung-Fu Kenny got right to work.

According to K. Dot’s top producer, Sounwave, the soundtrack was put together during most of “The DAMN. Tour.”

Much of the soundtrack came together during “The DAMN. Tour,” according to Kung Fu Kenny’s trusted producer Sounwave. “[During] ‘The DAMN. Tour,’ we probably came up with 50 percent of it—the production, the hooks and ideas,” he said. “When we got back from the tour in September, that’s when we were able to execute our ideas and reach out to people we respect and whatnot … kind of just put the stamp on it. So, I want to say those two months was the most vital on that tour, in terms of creative process.”

TDE Announces Full Label “The Championship Tour” [PEEP]

One of the hottest rosters in the game has to be Top Dawg Entertainment’s. For some time fans of the label have been tweeting the big Dawgs and demanding a complete joint tour with every artist on the label. It appears the message has gone through, as TDE announced its first-ever full label tour.

“The Championship Tour” will boasts every artist on the label like Kendrick Lamar, SZA, ScHoolboy Q, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul, SiR, and Lance Skiiiwalker. The only artist that doesn’t appear is Isaiah Rashad, who appears to be sitting it out to work on his album.

Over a three-month period the TDE roster will cover most of North America with production handled by Live Nation. It is set to kick off on May 4th in Vancouver, British Columbia and hit major markets like Los Angeles, New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Florida, Dallas, and many more.

Tickets will go on-sale to the general public this Friday at noon local time on Ticketmaster.com. American Express members will be able to purchase tickets before the general public in select cities, starting tomorrow at 10 am local time.

Jay Rock Says His Album Is Done, Talks Black Hippy Project & More [WATCH]

Off the release of his new single “King’s Dead” featuring Kendrick Lamar, Future, and James Blake, Jay Rock stopped by the Power 106 #LIFTOFF to discuss the song, how it came to fruition, “Black Panther” album, and a lot more with Justin Credible and DJ Sourmilk.

Rock says he was working in the studio when K. Dot came in to ask if he wanted in and he couldn’t pass up on it. Aside from the “King’s Dead” single and  “Black Panther” soundtrack, Rock said his upcoming album is done and hinted at a potential Black Hippy project.

With TDE collaborating with Marvel for the “Black Panther” motion soundtrack we are getting a lot of goodies as far as music goes. After Kendrick Lamar and SZA collaborated on “All the Stars,” Kenny hops on Jay Rock’s “King’s Dead” along with Future and James Blake.

Produced by Mike WiLL Made-It and Teddy Walton, the banging track includes a thumping bassline, which allows Cortez Kenny, Jay Rock, Future Hndrxx, and James Blake to properly deliver their fiery lyrics.
