Ice Cube Makes His Return With New Album ‘Everythang’s Corrupt’ [STREAM]

Last time Ice Cube dropped a full studio album was back in 2010 with ‘I Am the West’. Times were completely different back then from the sound of music to the political and social issues. Cube makes his return to rapping as he takes a break from acting with his new album, ‘Everythang’s Corrupt’.

On the album he’s tackling political and social issues with a hard stance against Trump, police injustice, the legal system, and more. This isn’t anything new for Cube who led a fight against the police in the late ’80s as a member of N.W.A.

This jam packed album includes 16-tracks and only one feature from Too $hort on “Ain’t Got No Haters.”

Ice Cube Gets His Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame [PEEP]

ice-cube-dr-dre-walk-of-fame

Ice Cube is one of the main people who helped birth the West Coast hip-hop scene and brought it to prominence. Having broke out with supergroup N.W.A. in the late 80’s, Cube gained attention with tough lyrics that spoke out against police brutality, while also tackling other issues people in the inner-city faced everyday. From the music he crossed over to acting and has been equally successful.

Today the Don Mega finally received his long overdue star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. With friends and family in the audience, Cube showed his appreciation for everyone who’s helped him in his career. Dr. Dre, WC, MC Ren, DJ Yella, Sir Jinx, Yo-Yo, DJ Pooh, and John Singleton were among the names he mentioned.

“You don’t get here by yourself,” he said. “When you’re coming up doing music, movies, just trying to be creative, you never figure you’ll be on the Hollywood Walk of Fame one day. So today is not really about Ice Cube, it’s about all the people who helped me get here.”

As of today  June 12th is now recognized as “Ice Cube Day” in LA. It really was a good day.

Ice Cube Releases 25th Anniversary ‘Death Certificate’ Album & Visuals For “Good Cop Bad Cop” [PEEP]

Death-Certificate-25th-anniversary

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of his classic ‘Death Certificate’ album, Ice Cube drops a special edition rerelease including original songs and three new ones to go along with the theme of the album, which speaks against social injustice and police brutality.

Originally released in October of 1991, Cube’s sophomore album included singles like “Steady Mobbin,” “A Bird in the Hand,” and “No Vaseline”. It touched on a lot of social and racial issues stemming from the 1991 Rodney King beating by the LAPD.

Years later a lot of the same issues are still occuring in cities across the United States and it seems that police brutality is at an all-time high. On the three new tracks, “Only One Me,” “Good Cop, Bad Cop,” and “Dominate The Weak” Cube puts the focus on those topics.

New Music: Ice Cube – “Good Cop Bad Cop” [LISTEN]

Ice Cube has always shed light on social and racial injustices and has repeatedly said, “Fuck The Police”. The West Coast legend returns with another hard-hitting message to crooked members of law enforcement on his new single “Good Cop Bad Cop”.

“Fuck a black and white when they ain’t actin’ right,” viciously raps Cube. “Good cop, good cop fillin’ out your report / Bad cop asking you to distort / Bad cop asking you to lie in court / Send another young brother up north / Send another young sister off course / While these motherfuckers chill on the golf course.”

“Good Cop Bad Cop” is one of the three new singles off Cube’s forthcoming ‘Death Certificate: 25th Anniversary Edition’, dropping this Friday, June 9th.

While talking to Beats1 Cube shared his stance on several topics, most notably about using his platform to address issues. “When it comes to records, I just think you gotta be a voice for the voiceless. That’s what it’s about,” he said.

Ice Cube Signs With Interscope & Announces 25th Anniversary “Death Certificate” Album [PEEP]

ice cube death

New deal alert!

Ice Cube has signed on to join Interscope Records, after what feels like ages of being an independent artist. The signing comes somewhat unexpected, as it didn’t appear Cube was working on anything musically and solely focusing on his acting career.

“We are thrilled to announce that Ice Cube has joined the Interscope family,” said John Janick, Chairman and CEO of Interscope Geffen A&M. “He’s obviously one of the legendary figures in hip-hop…that’s a massive statement on its own, but he’s so much more than that. Cube has an incredible body of work, and as a fan I’m honored to welcome him to the label.”

With the 25th anniversary of Cube’s ‘Death Certificate’ coming on June 9th, the Legend is releasing a full-fledged special anniversary edition of his sophomore album. The revamp will drop on June 9th and include classic singles like “Steady Mobbin,” “A Bird in the Hand,” and “No Vaseline” along with three new singles “Only One Me,” “Good Cop, Bad Cop,” and “Dominate The Weak”.

‘Death Certificate’ was originally released on October 29th, 1991. It touched on a lot of social and racial issues stemming from the 1991 Rodney King beating by the LAPD. Even decades later it seems as those issues have only gotten worse and Cube will address it on the anniversary edition.

“Sadly, our community is dealing with many of the same issues,” explained Cube. “I only hope that young millennials feeling powerless in the ‘hood can channel their own anger and frustration by listening to this record.”

Pre-orders for the anniversary edition will be made available June 2nd with the album dropping June 9th.

Aside from this release, Cube recently confirmed the latest sequel of the “Friday” franchise, “Last Friday”. Read more about that here.

Ice Cube Confirms “Last Friday” Movie On “The Late Late Show” [PEEP]

CBS_CORDEN_0338_IMAGE_CIAN_LOGO_1130541_640x360

On last night’s “The Late Late Show with James Corden,” Ice Cube made a major announcement. The West Coast legend told Corden that the fourth sequel of the “Friday” installment is currently in the works and definitely happening. Something that every “Friday” enthusiast can be happy about after all the rumors that have circled in the past couple years.

“We’re working on one right now,” said Cube. “We’re gonna call it Last Friday.”

The sequel follows Mike Epps teasing the movie along with co-star John Witherspoon. It is also the first time Ice Cube has ever spoken on it with such confirmation. It does make a lot of sense given Cube’s recent success with other franchises like “Barbershop,” “Ride Along,” “Jump Street” and “Are We There Yet?”

“Last Friday” will follow the 1995 original “Friday,” and sequels “Next Friday” in 2000 and “Friday After Next” from 2002. A whole 15-years later it is finally happening.
