DJ Premier Remixes J. Cole’s “1985” [LISTEN]

DJ Premier takes J. Cole’s “1985 (Intro to “The Fall Off)” back to 1966 with a get down-inspired remix that gives the track some soul.

On Twitter DJ Premier said he remixed the record for the “Underground street DJs.” He also said he bought Cole’s ‘KOD’ album as soon at it dropped without warning and “1985” in particular resonated with him, so he asked Cole if he can get an a capella version so he can remix it.

“I bought J. Cole’s KOD LP as soon as it dropped with no warning to the fans; which I too am a fan,” he said. “‘1985’ resonated with me immediately, so I asked Cole if I could get the a capella and do an underground DJ version just for fun. He sent it and I just pieced some stab samples to keep it on some boom bap shit. Here it is!”

Crooked I Gets Off On #Freestyle008 [WATCH]

kxng-crooked-leakers-freestyle

Sourmilk and Creddy brought in a West Coast legend for #Freestyle008. Long Beach’s own, Crooked I came in and murdered Jeru The Damaja’s “Come Clean” instrumental produced by DJ Premier. For about 3-minutes, Crook spits deadly bars about Slaughterhouse, formerly being signed to Death Row, mumble rappers, Oprah, having deep pockets like “the owner of Roc Nation,” being the illest, and more.

Crooked I or KXNG Crooked, whatever you wanna call him, make sure you call him a legend. He definitely stayed true to his team’s name by slaughtering #Freestyle008. Watch below.

DJ Premier and Miguel teamed up last month to drop a new, groovy single called “2 Lovin You.” The single was recorded a few years ago and was a reject form Miguel’s 2015 ‘Wildheart’ album. In the end it was the first release on Preem’s To The Top imprint.

In the video both Miguel and Preemo kick it in a warehouse while Miguel sings and Premier mixes with bright lights around them. Watch below via YouTube.

New Music: DJ Premier – “2 Lovin U” Feat. Miguel [LISTEN]

miguel-2-lovinu

It’s been a while since we heard a new song from Miguel, but the singer collaborates with legendary producer DJ Premier for “2 Lovin U.”

Preemo blesses the track with smooth chords, some slight sampling, and even sound clips. Miguel flips his vocals for “Damned,” which was a bonus track on his last LP, and puts his emotions of giving his unconditional love to a woman over the track.

Miguel last dropped an album in 2015 with ‘Wildheart’, so naturally we should be expecting a new project from the singer soon.

Nas – Represent (Video)

Nas’ debut, “Illmatic,” dropped when I was 10 years old. I wasn’t old enough to REALLY appreciate music yet, so that album flew right over my head and I didn’t really appreciate it until I was in high school. During my high school years, the DJ Premier produced “Represent” was DEFINITELY one of my favorites off the album. 20 years later, it FINALLY has a video.
