Wiz Khalifa Takes Flight On ‘Laugh Now, Fly Later’ Mixtape [STREAM]

wiz-khalifa-lnfl

Before Wiz Khalifa drops the follow-up album to 2015’s ‘Blacc Hollywood’, he takes flight with his new ‘Laugh Now, Fly Later’ mixtape.

Over 10-tracks, Wiz collaborates with only Casey Veggies on the opening track, “Royal Highness.” From there the Taylor Gang boss takes it upon himself to flame the remaining nine tracks with nothing but raw verses and melodies.

Wiz released the first official single “Letterman” earlier this week, where he spits braggadocio bars while addressing haters and specifying how long his paper stretch. Other standout tracks for me are: “Figure It Out,” “Plane 4 U,” “Long Way to Go,” and “Global Access.”

As mentioned above, ‘Laugh Now, Fly Later’ is a warm-up to Wiz’s forthcoming ‘Rolling Papers 2’ album, which is expected to be released in December.

New Music: Eminem – “Walk On Water” Feat. Beyoncé [LISTEN]

eminem-walk-on-water-feat-beyonce

He’s back!

After a few cryptic messages and teasers on his social media accounts and the Internet, Eminem releases his new, highly-anticipated single “Walk On Water” featuring none other than Beyoncé. Em posted the single on his Instagram with a teaser video yesterday, but even without any of that, the song would still be getting the same attention, because he’s Eminem.

I’m personally not too impressed by the song, especially if it’s the first single off his forthcoming ‘REVIVAL’ album. It is just not what I was expecting for a first single, especially after what he did on BET’s Hip-Hop Awards Cypher. Nonetheless the single will probably go platinum in record time and top the charts, because he’s Eminem.

The introspective single is produced by Rick Rubin with Skylar Grey getting a co-production credit as well. Skylar also is listed with a co-writing credit.

On the track Eminem raps about his drug addiction, expectations, before going on to pay salutations to  legends like 2-Pac, The Notorious B.I.G., Nas, Rakim, LL Cool J, and Prince, while bashing himself and his accolades.

“Kids look to me as a God,” he raps. “This is retarded / If only they knew it’s a facade / And it’s exhaustive.”

“Walk On Water” is sure to be on Eminem’s ‘REVIVAL’ album which is reportedly set to be released Friday, November 17th. Em will also perform the song at the MTV EMAs on Sunday, November 12th and on “SNL” on Saturday, November 18th.

In the video Ferg and Meek kick it in Harlem flossing their jewels and foreign whips, as they post up with members of their respective entourages.

Meek was put away earlier this week for what the judge ruled “probation violations” and sentenced to two to four years in jail. In hopes of overturning the decision Jay Z, Rick Ross, DJ Khaled, amongst others have shared an official petition to free him. You can sign off on it here.

Screen Shot 2017-11-09 at 5.44.01 PM 1

Up-and-coming Cleveland rapper Paper Paulk shows a lot of confidence in his new six song ‘Stay Committed’ EP, which is musically orchestrated by Chase N Cashe and led by the high-powered single “Push the Button.”

Paper goes all the way in on “Push the Button” with raps about his hometown of Cleveland, while soning other rappers, as he pushes their buttons with utter braggadocio lyrics.

Another single on the project that really catches my attention is “Type Of Life.” On it Paper fully details the kind of life he strives to live. This track also shows the rapper’s strong lyrical abilities and sense of verse stanzas.

Kamaiyah Drops ‘Before I Wake’ Mixtape [STREAM]

beforeiwake-1024x1024

Oakland’s Kamaiyah introduced herself properly last year when she dropped her ‘A Good Night in the Ghetto’ debut project. The 4Hunnid signee follows that up with her 10-track ‘Before I Wake’ mixtape.

Containing no features, the surprise project brings that prototypical West Coast, funky, Bay Area-heavy sound. Executive production on the mixtape is handled by Link+Up.

Kamaiyah shared her journey in creating ‘Before I Wake’ on her Instagram, explaining her struggles, losing her brother to cancer, losing her way, and opting to make this project independent from her label, Interscope.

“This past year has been extremely hard for me,” she grieved. “I lost my brother to cancer and went through extreme depression. Creatively I felt trapped with my project being held up due to samples. I lost my way and decided to take initiative by recording and putting together music for my fans all on my own because I felt it was time. Thank you for everyone who has been patient, this is only the beginning.”
