Jay-Z Talks About His Father’s Trials & Tribulations In “Adnis” Footnotes [WATCH]

jay-z-adnis-footnotes

Jay-Z continues to unveil footnotes for the singles on his critically-acclaimed ‘4:44’ album. Having already shared more than half of the footnotes, Hov moves forward with “Adnis.” As you may know “Adnis” is a bonus cut off the album.

“Adnis” is inspired by Hov’s estranged father, Adnis Reeves. On the footnotes he reflects on his dad’s lifes and discusses his father’s trials and tribulations, while looking at things through Adnis’ scope.

“When you look at it through that scope, through that lens, you don’t look at it in such a harsh view,” says Hov. “You look at it like, ‘Man, life fucked you up. I’m sorry that happened to you. I wish you would have told me. I wish you could have said something to me. I could have helped you.”

Along with Jay, the Adnis footnotes includes additional commentary from Chris Rock, Mahershala Ali, Will Smith, Bill Burr, Mack Wilds, DJ Khaled, and Kevin Hart, who all share their own stories of their fathers.

HBK Gang continues to relentlessly put the bay area on the map while collectively showcasing their skills. P-Lo has one of the hottest albums out with ‘More Than Anything’ and IamSu just dropped two new slappers, where he flashes his hyperactive flow over crazy, hyphy production.

The first single “It’s Only One Way” has Heartbreak Suzy spitting about his “best of all-time flow” over a bouncy production that brings the flow to life. “It’s a new race and a new space / Had to jump ship, make a great  escape / I’m the fuckin’ GOAT, but I’m not the scape / At my wedding day Im’a cut the cake,” raps Su.

Last night SZA’s “Supermodel” single received placement in HBO’s latest episode of “Insecure.” To celebrate the victory, the TDE songstress dropped the visuals for her ‘Ctrl.’ single.

In the Nabil-directed enchanted video, SZA struts around a magical forest wearing ‘Ctrl.’ panties, a see-through blouse, and a robe. On her journey she encounters fairies, who worship her and blow her kisses, before they all shoot fake guns and explosives at her ex.

Issa Rae who acts, writes, and is the executive producer of “Insecure,” tweeted that she heard “Supermodel” prior to the album’s release and “was in LOVEEEE,” adding that, “Lowkey the whole album could be on the show. #InsecureHBO.”

SZA responded on Twitter and displayed her appreciation in a Tweet where she wrote, “this means so much to me I wanna say more but i fear I’m peaking on thirst™ lol I’m just so thankful..I really prayed and dreamed of this.”

Kendrick Lamar & Rihanna Are Crime Partners In The Video For “LOYALTY.” [WATCH]

loyalty-video

Kendrick Lamar and Rihanna play their parts as the modern-day Bonnie and Clyde in the video for Dot’s ‘DAMN.’ single, “LOYALTY.”

Shot in Los Angeles and co-directed by Dave Meyers and the little homies, the video displays different symbolism around the title of the song. It begins with a blindfolded K. Dot, who is stabbed by his girlfriend in a hotel room.

From there Kung-Fu Kenny remains attached to Rihanna, as the duo commit various crimes, run several scams, and go for the money.

This video is released in the midst of Kendrick Lamar’s “DAMN. Tour” first leg. Two nights ago he brought out J. Cole in Detroit and last night he brought out Chance The Rapper in Chicago. Watch it below.

Amine Delivers Freshman Album ‘Good For You’ [STREAM]

amine-good-for-you

It’s already been a pretty successful year for Washington’s Aminé, who was named a member of the 2017 XXL Freshman class back in June. Looking to keep his winning streak alive, Aminé delivers his debut album, ‘Good For You’.

A solid listing of 15-tracks is made up of features from Ty Dolla $ign on “Veggies,” Nelly on “Yellow,” Offset on “Wedding Crashers,” Kehlani on “Heebiejeebies,” and Charlie Wilson on “Dakota.”

“I don’t really think much of any songs I put out,”modestly said Aminé. “I mean, I think they’re good, that’s why I’m putting them out, but like, I don’t ever try to expect anything. Even with ‘Caroline’ or ‘REDMERCEDES,’ I just kind of put them out and people gravitate towards them. I guess that’s pretty cool and it’s a blessing.”

“This album is really my blood, sweat, and tears, and everything that I’ve learned up to this point in life,” explained Vic about the album. “I kinda had to go through a lot of different things to even be able to put this album down on wax.”

Executive produced by the combination of No I.D. and Jay-Z, Vic revealed that Hov, who called the Chicago rapper “a once in a lifetime artists,” also helped pick every single on the album.

“He was instrumental in helping me pick the records that were going to make it and some of the lyrical content,” he explained, “and just helping me to mold the shape of the story to make sure that it pushes along and that it takes you on a journey.”
