New Music: Migos – “Dab Of Ranch” [LISTEN]

2bf5f09732752c66ef018f2c36400acd.510x506x1

We’ve already seen Migos hunger to take over the hip-hop game and now they’re showing their tenacity to eat with their own flavor of Rap Snacks called “Sour Cream with A Dab of Ranch.”

The three trapmigos is all about doing it for the ‘Culture’ as they even cut a song for their flavor of potato chips. Last year a video surfaced of Quavo, Offset, and Takeoff in a studio working on a jingle for the snack, and the official track has been released.

On the track the Migos share how they can make it happen. With adlibs flying all over the track, they each rap about the flavorful snack.

Rap Snacks, the “official snack of hip-hop,” has featured rappers in the past like Meek Mill, Fetty Wap, Mack 10, Master P, and others. However, not all of those names made a track this catchy to go along with their snack.

Anderson .Paak Performs “Come Down” In Church With A Gospel Choir [WATCH]

Anderson .Paak gets with The Recording Academy’s “Believe In Music” campaign to have fans “Come Down” to church.

The Ventura, California native was joined by Gospel Music Director, J’rese Mitchell and a full choir to put a Gospel twist on his single “Come Down” off his ‘Malibu’ project. In the video he is seen playing the drums while he jams out with the choir.

Growing up .Paak was a drummer for his church’s Gospel choir, so it must’ve been a real nostalgic moment for him. In the past he said that’s how he got started and got into music and playing instruments.

Anderson’s next stop will be at the GRAMMYs this Sunday, where he will perform with A Tribe Called Quest. .Paak is also nominated for Best New Artist and Best Urban Contemporary Album. Good luck, Anderson!

New Music: Rocky Banks – ‘Trust In Banko’ [LISTEN]

f5422a4f-226b-4e67-8fe1-4c09c5796c34

Maturity is one of the major keys to success in an artist’s development. Houston rapper and L.A. Leakers “Indie Pick of the Week” alumni, Rocky Banks, has definitely matured as a person and as an artist on his new project ‘Trust In Banko’.

The maturity and change began to become evident in his 2016 mixtape, ‘In Other News I Don’t Do Drugs Anymore’, where Rocky vowed to make major changes in his life like kicking drug habits to the curb and focusing on music.

“I’ve grown from the last project,” he humbly said. “I’m just trying to be a better person, I wanna be a better person and artist than I was last year.”

‘Trust In Banko’ highlights that change with “big boy” bars where Rocky explicitly tells anecdotes about different experiences in his life and being in the music industry.

“When I say big boy bars I mean I’m having bigger conversations now and rapping about more important things,” he shared.

The project boasts a total of 14-songs, that sound like a younger version of Kendrick Lamar mixed with Big Sean and sprinkled with Chance The Rapper’s soulfulness.

The EP was primarily produced by longtime contributor, Mufasa Ensor, who Rocky credits for creating his current sound and musical vibe.

“Mufasa touched every single track on there,” he said. “Me and him created this sound together and I haven’t felt a need to make any changes because if it ain’t broke you ain’t gotta fix it.”

The sound will only continue to improve and get better for Rocky, who seems to be in the studio creating everyday. Someone should include this man in the conversation for XXL’s Freshman list.

“This is me graduating from all the hard taught lessons in my life,” he said. “I’m independent, I’m the leader of the Yellow Hearts collective and I’m going to continue to get better.”

New Music: Kap G – “No New Friends” Feat. Quavo [LISTEN]

no-new-friends

The Atlanta Falcons may have lost the Superbowl yesterday, but best believe Atlanta will continue to win in this music shit with all the young and old talent pumping out the A. Kap G clicks up with his fellow ATLien, Quavo for “No New Friends.”

The duo explain why they rather stick to their day 1s instead of adding new members to their inner circle. Quavo leads it off by rapping about his lifestyle, hanging in Calabasas, and other rappers biting his flow. Kap follows up rhyming about his haters, 12 (the police), backstabbers, and fake friends.

The artwork for the single is quite interesting, it includes cartoon versions of both Kap G, Quavo, and Donald Trump crossed out. There is no mention of Trump on the song, but still fuck him.

New Video: Chance The Rapper – “Same Drugs” [WATCH]

Chance The Rapper brings out the Muppets in the video for “Same Drugs” off his ‘Coloring Book’ mixtape.

Jake Schreier, the director of the video used grainy camera effects to give the video a vintage stylized look. Chance plays the piano joined by a Muppet before he gets up and walks off the stage and past the control room, eventually exiting the Muppet studios.

This isn’t the first time Chano has used Muppets, last year the Chicago rapper performed with a whole group of Muppet characters on his “Magnificent Coloring Book Tour.”

Chance will perform at this Sunday’s GRAMMY Awards show. His critically-acclaimed ‘Coloring Book’ mixtape is nominated for 7 awards and it marks the first time a mixtape has been nominated for a GRAMMY.

New Video: Wale – “Running Back” Feat. Lil Wayne [WATCH]

Football season is officially over with the New England Patriots winning the Superbowl last night. However, that’s not stopping Wale from dropping the visuals for his football-inspired single “Running Back” featuring Lil Wayne.

Both rappers hit various play actions in front of the color-changing background in the ACRS-directed video. As both rappers dance around while rapping their verses, models join them as cheerleaders on the sidelines.

In the video Wale pays his respects to former USC Trojans running back, Joe McKnight. McKnight was shot and killed by a man in his native hometown of New Orleans, following a road rage dispute. RIP.

New Video: Mariah Carey – “I Don’t” Feat. YG [VIDEO]

After releasing her latest 90s-inspired song “I Don’t” featuring YG yesterday, Mariah Carey drops the visuals for the break-up anthem.

In the video, MC shows her ex-finance, James Packer what he’s missing out on as she seductively sings about their break-up. Packer was the inspiration behind the song after he called off the engagement leaving MC’s heart shattered.

The most symbolic scene in the video happens at the end when Mimi throws her wedding dress in the bonfire, making the ending of the relationship official.

Jermaine Dupri and Bryan-Michael Cox produced the song.
